SERVPRO Tackles Water Restoration and Demolition Job in Nashua

A cracked toilet tank was the root cause of a large-scale water damage restoration in a Nashua property. The video gives a great overview that shows clean-up after a home disaster such as; this is far more than mopping up some water and drying floors.

One of the most important parts of saving hardwood flooring is drying hardwood flooring before the wood begins to bend and cup due to water exposure. As shown in the video, SERVPRO technicians determine the exact areas where drying is needed and use specialized drying methods like the drying mats on the flooring to force warm, dry air into the boards before any further deterioration.

While SERVPRO techs deployed a significant amount of drying equipment to halt the potential for further water damage to the structure, some areas already had a large amount of moisture exposure. In some areas of the home, removal of the walls and floors was needed to inhibit the potential for bacteria and mold growth. These controlled demolition actions included careful removal of the tile flooring using manual tools, as shown in the video.

SERVPRO technicians work as quickly and cleanly as possible. During the removal of tile, dust and debris can get kicked up into the air. As the video shows, the technicians remove each shovelful of disposed flooring carefully to limit airborne particles during the water damage restoration process.

Since this toilet tank leak occurred on an upper floor in the home, the true amount of damage to the home can be seen during the final pan of the video showing a large amount of the downstairs walls and ceilings have been removed. Fortunately, the hardwood flooring in one room remained intact due to the fast action of the homeowner bringing on SERVPRO for the water cleanup.
